What is hypnosis?
The dictionary definition of hypnosis states
Hypnosis is a trance-like mental state in which people experience increased attention, concentration, and suggestibility.
All of us experience hypnotic states every day. If you’ve ever driven your car home from work and arrived home safe without remembering the drive, that’s hypnosis. Being “in the zone” during a workout when you’re not really thinking but completely focused is also a form of hypnosis…so is going to the movies and feeling sympathy for the characters on screen.
When we are kids we absorb all our experience in our environment and our subconscious creates positive and negative associations…for example: your mom always gave you candy after you did something well so now you’re an adult struggling with a candy addiction and you aren’t sure why you cant quit.
Through hypnosis, you can help rewrite this association and change the habit.
